Kyle Adam Blair - RÉPÉTITEUR /
COLLABORTIVE PIANO

Dr. Kyle Adam Blair is a San Diego - based pianist, vocal coach, and contemporary music specialist. Captivated by dissonance, complexity, and lyricism, Blair is frequently drawn to works from the American art music repertory, and to collaborations with composers. A well-traveled performer, he has shared the stage with Bang-On-A-Can All-Stars, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and members of Eighth Blackbird.

Blair’s curiosities regarding song and theatre spark frequent collaborations with actors, singers, and dancers. For nearly a decade he has worked closely with Grammy-winning soprano Susan Narucki and the kallisti vocal ensemble as the repetiteur, vocal coach, and music director for numerous contemporary operatic projects, including Lei Liang’s Inheritance, Christopher Cerrone’s All Wound Bleed, Tom Johnson’s The Four-Note Opera, and Stephen Lewis’s Noon At Dusk.

He conducted the premiere of Carolyn Chen’s opera The Robots with projectBLANK in May 2024, and will be music directing and performing in the premiere of No Singing in the Navy at Playwrights Horizons, NYC, in March 2026.

Blair is currently a Lecturer and the Staff Pianist for the UC San Diego Department of Music, and also serves as a Lecturer and Vocal Coach for the UC San Diego Department of Theatre and Dance, where he has performed in, music directed, conducted, and/or composed music for 11 fully-realized productions since 2013.

His solo piano debut album Palm Sunday is available on New World Records, and he has performed or produced for releases from Bridge Records, Edgetone Records, and more.
Blair received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Contemporary Music Performance from the University of California, San Diego in 2018 under the mentorship of Aleck Karis.
